About me

I began my career in mental health working as a mental health nurse on an acute psychiatric ward in Lambeth Hospital, London. I soon saw more value in talking to people about their difficulties than medicating them. I then moved to the Maudsley Hospital, to work on a day unit providing psychotherapeutic interventions for people with a diagnosis of personality disorder, while training as a psychotherapist. I remained there for just under 8 years, working with individuals, families and groups.
Subsequently I moved to the Family Therapy section of the Maudsley Psychotherapy Service, working alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist, with families where an adult member had a diagnosed mental health disorder. I worked there for 3 years, qualifying as a Family Therapist. The department closed and I was transferred to work as a Family Therapist in the Lewisham Integrated Psychological Therapies Team for a year. There I worked with individuals, couples and families with mental health difficulties.
I moved to Ipswich in 2014 to work in the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) as a Family Therapist in the Suffolk Children, Families and Young People Care Group. In addition, I worked as a Tutor on the Trust’s Diploma in Family Therapy programme, teaching psychotherapeutic theory and technique to care professionals. I have worked in several areas in NSFT: CAMHS, young adults (18 – 25), Crisis Response and Under 18 Eating Disorders.
I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and am an Association for Family Therapy Approved Supervisor.
